Echo of a distant explosion

An unusual structure of gas fibers is a section of the supernova Vela, which exploded about 11 thousand years ago, which represents a shock wave moving at an enormous speed from an explosion, "raking" interstellar gas and gradually dying out in space. It is visible against the background of the reddish nebula RCW 35 or Gum 18, which is an emission nebula from the constellation of Sails, located at a distance of 5870 light years from us and associated with the stellar association OB Vela OB1.
